Honey Honey Quilt

I'm super happy to finally have this quilt finished.  I had purchased a dessert roll of Honey Honey by Katie Spain over a year ago.  I found this Cobblestone Path Quilt pattern by Pauline Francis at the Moda Bake Shop.  Pauline has three versions of this quilt using different fabrics and one of them was done in Honey Honey.  It was so pretty I knew I had to make my own version.  When I read the directions I realized I would be able to make a bigger quilt than the pattern so I made some adjustments and added additional rows and columns.

I can't say enough of how much I love Kate Spain's designs.  The floral prints are so gorgeous in this collection.  My favorite is the navy floral, which worked really well as the border fabric.  It was a great contrast to the Moda Bella Solids Off-White fabric that I used for the sashing.  I had it quilted locally on a long-arm in an all over loop and flower pattern to go with the fabric collection.

This is definitely a keeper...feels good to finish something for myself.

Two Baby Quilts

This quilt uses the disappearing nine-patch pattern, with solids in the center, larger prints in the four corners, and smaller prints/patterns in the four middle spots.  Then I arranged them with the solids pointing out and to the center.  I used a layer cake of Scrumptious by Bonnie and Camille, but you could use charm packs for the 5 inch squares instead.  This was actually the leftovers from the next baby quilt I made with the layer cake.  I don't like to waste anything!  I sent this one out to be machine quilted and it came out really pretty, I like the sashing quilting, the white really shows it off.  I used Moda off-white bella solid for the sashing in both quilts.

The next quilt was the first one I made from the layer cake and it is based on a free pattern from the Moda Bake Shop called Marmalade Squares Quilt by LeAnne Ballard. I machine appliqued the letter L in one of the blocks, this pattern is perfect for that little customization.

Patchwork Zipper Pouches

These are some patchwork zippered pouches that I made for presents this year.  There are many great zippered pouch tutorials out there, for this one I used the Quilted Patchwork Pouch at Moda Bake Shop by Julie Hirt.  I love this pattern because it teaches you how to make boxed corners, insert a zipper, and has lots of possibilities for quilting the pouch.  The directions and pictures are easy to follow.  The patchwork makes it easy to quilt diagonal lines or you can do straight lines with your walking foot guide.  You can use 2 1/2 inch squares or a mini charm pack.  I used Sunnyside by Kate Spain, Weeds by Me and My Sister Designs, and Social Club by Eric and Julie Comstock.  A great place to buy mini charms is Green Fairy Quilts
